Harston Club Swaps - May

Another super swap this month
not all that attended remembered to bring theirs,
so they can swap next month.

Here is my bird.  I painted a small canvas
board to mount the mdf bird on
then had a good excuse to use a stamp
from Tim Holtz Bird Crazy stamp set
I love them all so it was hard to choose which one.

Liz went wild with this oblong round
tin, gorgeous lace and pretty decorative details.

Here is a close up of the lid decoration, .

Pamela decorated this tiny altoid tin with flowers
and a butterfly, even adding tiny decorated feet
underneath. The butterfly is a die cut from a drink can
filled with glossy accents and tissue -
amazing - and I was the lucky recipient.

When I opened the tin, I found Pamela had filled it
with small clay pieces, a lovely surprise!

Annie mounted her altered bird onto a
painted canvas board with a little flower for the eye,
take a look at that cheeky owl hiding behind the flowers, so cute.

Here were the items Tanya provided
before we altered them.
.

Linda, Pamela and Annie busy crafting away.

Tanya is busy working on Fred,
adding sprays to wings and things.

Lastly here are the items that Annie
has provided for us to alter for the June swap.

Until next time..

April Club Swaps

Wow is all I can say about this months swaps.
Liz provided us last month with mdf blanks from her stash of goodies
and everyone rose to the challenge again.

Here is a butterfly shape I decorated with inspiration
from the lovely frame Jane made last month.
I added the boobies for fun...

Liz decorated this board which is amazing,
fabulous painting detail and colours are fab.
(I was the lucky recipient)

Tanya created around a giant peg, gorgeous colours used.

Jane's hanger is wonderful, I love the flowers used.
One of my favourite bird stamps used here too.

Pamela went to town with a teapot shape
to show a Alice tea party, so much work in this design.

Last but certainly not least, Annie also decorated
a butterfly shape and used some of Liz's stamp designs which are awesome.

We had to say goodbye to Fred today, or we should
really call her Freda with all the flowers that adorned her.

Tanya has been bringing her along each month
to gesso then cover her with printed tissue paper.
This month she added final flowers and other bits, she
is finally finished.

Tanya kindly provided from her stash for our swap
next month, I have the birdy blanks.  Better get my thinking cap on.

Harston club day swaps - March

When we met up in February for our first craft day, we had not decided on what our swap would be during the coming year.
So I provided random items from my hoard of goodies that I at one time fully intended to alter but never actually got round to it.

Each member chose either a paper mache covered accordion booklet, a small frame or a box,
I should of course have taken a photo of the items but forgot.
This month we swapped with each other and it was fabulous to see how each member had risen to the challenge producing wonderful altered creations.

I altered my accordion booklet which had 6 folding pages which provided 12 sides to
create a Birthday book.  I decorated the pages, then used ATC sleeves
to hold a Tag, dates can be recorded on the reverse. Then made a stand
up sleeve to store the booklet in.

Pamela has decorated this frame with embossing paste and lovely flowers,
such a gorgeous colour, with lots of attention to detail.

Annie used her JOFY stamps for her booklet, such vivid
colours and bright.

Tanya covered her box sides with blue lace and used one of Liz's
new stamp images on the lid.

Liz has used papers to decorate her smashing booklet,
so much to see.

Last but not least, Jane's frame has so much detail,
(I was the lucky recipient, I love it).

Liz kindly provided items for us to take away and decorate for the swap next month.
Now what can I do to a rather large mdf butterfly?

Paperartsy Launch Samples for Elizabeth Borer

Today I have two more stamp samples used for the launch
on Wednesday on PaperArtsy blog of 4 new Art Nouveau style
stamp sets by Elizabeth Borer.
Check out PaperArtsy blog to see Liz's
artwork and samples and a video by Leandra.

In this sample I used 2 of the new purples in the new Fresco range
along with yellow paints and stamps from EEB06. The background
beneath the image used two purples with a stencil.
I created the background beneath that with a brayer and various
purples and yellows and finally stamping a flower image.

The final sample I decided to feature just the flower and stem on a tag.
For the simple background I again used a brayer to combine various colour
Fresco paints and then added a touch of Nougat to knock back the bright
purples used.

PaperArtsy Launch Samples

Yesterday PaperArtsy featured new stamps sets by Elizabeth Borer.
When Liz asked me to be one of her "wingmen" and produce four samples
for this launch I was both excited to be asked and panic-stricken in
equal measure.  Liz's stamps are gorgeous but very different from
my usual style.  I hope I have managed to do justice to them.
Check out PaperArtsy blog where you will see all Liz's
amazing artwork plus a video by Leandra featuring
her artwork and samples.

Here is my first sample. I used Fresco paints and matt glaze for and around
the image.  For the background I used a purple paint through a stencil over a
brayered background.  For the larger background I used the ribbon
swirl stamp over soft flower stamped images.

The Second sample from the same stamp set. I wanted to keep the image as the
focal point and used the other stamps from the set to highlight this.

We are lucky enough to have Liz as a member of our craft club, so
wish her huge success with her new stamp launch.
More in the next post.

Annie's Christmas Tree Board

At last I have the chance to share with you
Annie's finished board.
A fabulous tree, I love the dark tree against
the blue crackled background.

Below you can see the board with lace
to outline the shape of the tree and before
Annie glued all her buttons, flowers and all manner of goodies on,
she then covered the tree with black paint and used
various Treasure Gold pastes to highlight
all the elements, adding a Snowman and Reindeer.

Here is a close up of a section where you can
see lovely teeny fairy lights strung across the tree
along with hints of glitter here and there.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas, we did.
Now to look forward to see what 2015 will bring.
