March Pennant Swap

Here we are in March which has brought with it better weather and our latest Craft Group meet up!

Below are the fabulous banner pennants some of the group made and swapped this month.  As you can see there are lots of different techniques and styles.

Linda and Liz

Tanya and Me

Pamela and Annie

The room was a hive of activity all day with a mix of crafts.  Jane brought along her Embellisher machine and several of us had a go, a couple of us where smitten and may well take this up at a later date.  I must say I could see that it could be addictive, a great way to use up fibres, ribbon and such to produce unique artwork on felt backing.   Below you will see the result of a short play with different fibres, don't laugh as I am sure I could improve with practise.

Happy crafting until the next time!!!

4" Swaps from 2013

I received wonderful 4" Swaps last year from members of our Craft Group.

Of course there was always the choice to join in with the swap.

Inevitably we sometimes received more than one from the same person over the course of the year as not everyone entered the swap every month.

They are all fabulous and I love the collection of different styles from friends.

As you can see from the book above I adhered each to black card and bound them with black ribbon as I could not find book rings big enough.

I used mini bull dog clips and chain as a closure.

Pennant Swap

February has swept in along with the start of our monthly Craft Club meetings.  It was great to see everyone again and catch up on all our craft buys.

This year we decided to hold a swap again, we had two templates and could make either to swap.

The fabulous pennants below from left to right are by:-  Annie, Tanya, Liz and Pamela

Next is a gorgeous pennant by Linda on the left and mine on the right:-

As you can see they are all very different using several techniques.

It will be up to each member at the end of the year to join their swaps together to create a banner for their craft room or keep them in a book using book rings.

I shall be posting photos of the 4" swaps I received in 2013 over the next few days.  Until then....

Mixed Media Altered Tiles

Happy New Year to blog readers out there.  One of my resolutions this year will be to TRY to post more often!!!

Last year in June I met up with online friends from the fantastic  Cardmaking Paradise forum  at Craft Barn Extravaganza, I decorated 2" ceramic tiles (to share with friends) with magnetic tape on the back to use as a fridge magnet. This was placed in a origami paper box and fastened with ribbon looped through a button I decorated with Sharpies.  I came across the photos and thought I would share with you.  The credit for inspiring me to make these tiles goes to Littlecanvases (Ytube name)  who appears to have closed her account.

Altered Tiles

I painted and stamped a large vintage newspaper sheet (well 1960's) glued to the tile, added images, foiled the edges, added accent beads and glazed with Glossy Accents.

Paper Boxes

The paper boxes are very easy to make and there are several videos online.

Decorated Buttons

The buttons were fun to do, I had several white buttons so sat evenings and played around with them. To finish I rolled the edges along a Versamark pad and into embossing powders to heat emboss.  I glazed with Glossy Accents again, careful not to cover the holes.

Buttons

Excuse my shoddy foam pad, it is much used and abused!

MAIL ART

MAIL ART

Wow where has the time gone again.  Last month Sara organised a Mail Art Swap on Cardmaking Paradise forum, I had a great time and received two wonderful envelopes.  Here is another I swapped with a friend.
Mail Art Envelope (front with name covered)

For the envelopes I used printed sheets from my play with Faux Gelli printing and acrylic paints using a silicone sheet.  I ended up with a large supply of sheets, which came in handy for these envelopes.  I opened an old envelope and used this as a template.  Stamped with several images plus images stamped onto tissue, the face painted from the back of the tissue and glued down.  The butterfly was from a preprinted tissue sheet. Great fun.

Mixed Media 4" Tile

Here we are approaching November already and I am trying to get my act together and play more with all my piled high craft goodies.    Meanwhile I came across this photo of a 4" swap from August at our craft group.   I have used various decorated bits to create a mosaic background with accent beads glued in the gaps.  Photo is taken a bit on the skew, but original is 4" square.

The face is from Lynne Perrella set of stamps by PaperArtsy.  I used a piece of mountboard to stamp and colour.  Some areas are coloured with gel glitter pens. I then sealed it with a coat of Glossy Accents.
